As you can see, it's been a while since I've posted anything. Let me tell you, it’s definitely not because I have stopped cooking or exercising :-)
Let’s just say life got a little bit crazy after Baby Zand’s birth. We decided to relocate to California very suddenly earlier this year, so add to normal adapting to parenthood endless days of house hunting, settling into a new place, making new friends, getting over culture shock, and unpacking the few belongings we decided to bring with us from China (minus all the things that broke, which was pretty much most of my kitchen serving dishes). We are finally in our own place after overstaying our welcome with family for far too long. I mean 4 months is totally normal to be crashing on a sofa, right?!? I am piecing my kitchen back together, and every grain, bean, nut, and seed have found a place.
Baby Zand has spent more of her life here in California than in her birth place Shanghai, so this is now home. And what an amazing home it is! I mean crystal clear blue sky every day, the freshest air, and family around us - what more could I ask for? I have found my local “Avocado Lady”; for all my Shanghai followers, you know what I mean. I have to say, as much as I loved the Avocado Lady, this one here is amazing! It’s called the Berkeley Bowl, and you can get anything you have ever dreamt of. Carrots in all colors? Yes. An entire aisle of nut butters? Yes. And a bulk section of grains any other store would just go green with envy over? Yessss! I feel like I am in the pantry of the Masterchef kitchen, and I can cook anything I want. Which also brings me to my big announcement: I am picking up the lose ends of my cook book project again. In hindsight, starting to develop and test recipes while I was pregnant, and literally couldn't even step into my kitchen without getting sick, was probably not the best idea. So now that I can stomach my favorite ingredient garlic again, and even Baby Zand happily eats whatever I put in front of her, I will start this project very dear to my heart afresh. It will take a while, since anyone who has a kid will know - when do you ever really have time?!? - but I promise you I will get there. In the meantime, there will be new blog posts coming every week. I want to write all about my pregnancy journey and recovery after birth, new recipes are already drafted and photographed, and lots of new health tips are ready to be written up. The first big thing: the free Summer Popsicles eBook is coming back, revamped and with 3 new recipes! It will launch next week, so look out for it.
For now, thank you for still being here, my loyal readers. Drop me a line in the comment section below or contact me to let me know what you are interested in reading about in the coming months.
Big hugs to everyone!
