Say no to extremes this year!

The first Monday of the year is here, and I bet you you have committed yourself to some kind of diet/ restriction of certain foods and/or drinks, or serious self imposed gym torture. The New Year always brings with it so many expectations of how you should look, how much you should weigh, and what dress size you will fit into this year. As if by magic your approach this year will change what you were unable to do every year before.

I don't want to bring you down, and say it's not going to work. But let's be realistic here: if it hasn't worked for you so far, chances are very slim - pun intended :-) - that it will work this year. Instead, here is a New Year's resolution I love: say no to extremes this year. Say no to following any diet book to the T, say no to hitting the gym every day with so much hatred, say no to following every wellness trend that comes around in the hopes, that this will be your miracle cure.

I have written about this many times before, but instead of focusing on the numbers - the scale, the steps, the calories, the minutes sweated - put the emphasis of everything you do on how you feel. Do you feel energized or completely exhausted after exercising? Do you feel uplifted by the foods you eat or do you just want to sink into a food coma? Do you feel vibrant and alive with everything you do?

There is no point in adopting wellness trends that don't serve you. Yes, try everything out. Be in a constant search for your ultimate wellbeing. But don't just follow blindly what other people are doing; just because it worked for them, doesn't mean it works for you. We are all unique individuals, and we all need unique individual approaches to feeling our best and most alive.

We are constantly bombarded with ads of super photoshopped models, who want to sell us the ONE thing that will make all the difference. And yet we all know deep down, that there is not one thing that will change everything. There are many many different healthy habits that come together to create you feeling better in your own skin. So this year I will share my favorite healthy habits with you, that I have adopted over time. Some are very small tips and tricks, others revolve around bigger philosophies. But they all have helped me to feel my most alive self. And perhaps some of them may help you, too.

Here is to a healthy and happy 2017!
