All week long the theme for #selflovejanuary is rituals for better restoration and sleep over on Instagram and Facebook. Come and check out the daily tips. For today I talked about having a hot beverage before you go to bed to calm your nervous system down and make your body feel warm and relaxed, ready to go to sleep. This hot beverage of course excludes coffee :-).
You can use this time to try out an herb for a certain goal - for example raspberry leaf to get your cycle regulated. Or perhaps this is the time you drink your Mother Milk Tea if you are currently nursing. You can also have herbs that help with sleep such as chamomile or lavender. I have a lovely relaxing herbal tea recipe on the blog - check it out here.
For today I have an amazing moon milk recipe for you to get you off into slumberland. The coconut milk makes you feel nice and full, the vanilla adds a sensual touch, the cinnamon curbs cravings that might hit you once the kids are asleep, and the lavender calms your brain down. The raw honey is an option to boost your immune system but you can exchange it for maple syrup or dates or leave it out completely.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Makes 1 serving:
1 cup coconut milk - make your own creamy one at home
1 Tbsp raw honey (optional, see above)
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp dried lavender flowers
Blend all ingredients except the honey in a blender until smooth.
Then heat the milk gently on the stovetop for a couple of minutes.
Stir in the raw honey and enjoy.
