The last few weeks here in the Bay Area have been hard on so many levels. Seeing the smoke hanging over your home every morning you wake up is scary but not as scary as it is for all the people who are losing their homes, their existence, and their lives.
The wildfires are just another huge catastrophe to hit in 2020 and it all feels so overwhelming. How much more can you do as an individual to keep everyone safe and protected?
This week I read a post about how wildfires aren't a season and it really hit me. We now somehow expect wildfire season to hit every fall and we prepare ourselves for electricity outages and evacuations. Wildfires aren't a season. They are global warming!
So where do you start as an individual?
Well, one place to start is to vote for someone who actually believes in global warming this fall. And another place to start is with you! Wait, what? Yes, start with you!
If you are not at your best, how can you help other people? I realized in my classes over the last few weeks that I couldn't show up the way I usually do because the air was getting to my lungs and I started feeling light-headed and confused. How can I help others if I am not feeling at my best?
So I started mixing up this lung-protecting turmeric latte every morning and afternoon, and my lungs are as good as new again! If you need something to help you breathe easy as we continue to have wildfires raging all around the West Coast or if you live anywhere else in the world with a lot of pollution, try this recipe.
Please keep in mind, we are still in the middle of a pandemic with a virus that very much targets your lungs. You don't want to weaken your lungs with the smoke you are inhaling!
Please do not use regular dairy milk for this recipe, as it clogs your lungs - the very thing you want to remedy with this recipe. And if you can't find these herbs at a local herb store, check out Mountain Rose Herbs for the USA or iHerb for international shipping.
The herbs all work together for ultimate benefits but if you can't find one of them, don't stress yourself out!
Marshmallow root protects the lining of your lungs.
Ashwagandha helps your body deal with the onslaught of pollution.
Cardamom neutralizes the toxic damage from the burnt air.
Cinnamon helps to ease inflammation in your lungs and tastes great!
Ginger keeps your immune system strong for this crazy time.
Turmeric help prevent the growth of harmful cells (like cancer) growing in your lungs.
