Tahini Brownies For Your PMS



The luteal phase is the last phase of your cycle and the one where PMS hits you. It's the time you might be craving chocolate - check out this video to learn why that is.

Chocolate cravings tell us two things:

  1. We need more magnesium to feel more chilled. You can also find magnesium in bananas, spinach, pumpkin seeds, and Epsom salt baths.

  2. We are feeling low and need a happiness boost. Our serotonin (happy hormone) levels drop together with progesterone and estrogen to start our bleeding. So it is natural to crave quick sugar and fat to boost our mood. And chocolate is exactly that. Think about other things that can also make you happy? Reading a book, meeting a friend, going into nature, or watching a good movie?


You can absolutely still eat chocolate during your PMS! Just make it the best quality you can find and raw cacao is amazing to boost all of your nutrients you need for a healthy cycle. Raw cacao powder is very different from processed coco powder which lacks all of the nutrients so try to find it in a health food store to make these amazing brownies.



Preparation time: 1 hour

Makes 12 brownies:


Wet ingredients:

  • 2/3 cups Medjool dates, pitted

  • 3/4 cups melted virgin coconut oil

  • 3/4 cups water

  • 3/4 cups maple syrup

  • 3/4 cups tahini

  • 3/4 cups coconut sugar

  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract


Dry ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups oat flour

  • 3/4 cups raw cacao powder

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • pinch of sea salt


  • 3/4 cups chocolate chips

  • extra coconut oil for greasing


  1. Start by soaking the pitted dates in boiling water.

  2. Pre-heat the oven to 175°C/350°F and grease a pan with some coconut oil.

  3. Combine all the wet ingredients in a food processor and add the strained dates in the end. Process until super smooth.

  4. Add the dry ingredients and combine well.

  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  7. Best eaten still warm!
