Gift idea: Holiday nuts

More gift ideas are here for you! Today I have two recipes for delicious holiday nuts. One is a savory, one is a sweet recipe, and both will be complete winners - whether you are hosting at home or giving these as a gift. You can wrap the nuts in little cookie bags or gift them in a beautiful holiday bowl. 

 

Chocolate spiced holiday nuts

 

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Baking and cooling time:  45 minutes

Makes 2 cups: 

 

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract 

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon 

  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom 

  • 2 cups almonds 

 

  1. Pre-heat oven to 160°C/ 325°F, and line a baking tray with parchment paper. 

  2. Mix honey, cacao, and all the spices well until smooth. 

  3. Add almonds and stir to coat. 

  4. Spread almonds over parchment paper, and roast for 15 minutes. 

  5. Let cool off for 30 minutes, then break apart and keep in an air tight container. 

 

 

Spiced holiday nuts

 

Preparation time: 5 minutes

  • 2 Tbsp melted virgin coconut oil 

  • 1 Tbsp coconut sugar

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika 

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt 

  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1/4 tsp ground coriander 

  • 1/4 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon 

  • 2 cups mixed nuts (almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, macadamia, pistachio, etc) 

 

  1. Pre-heat oven to 160°C/ 325°F, and line a baking tray with parchment paper. 

  2. Mix sugar, salt, and spices with the oil until well combined. 

  3. Add nuts and stir to coat. 

  4. Spread nuts over parchment paper, and roast for 15 minutes. 

  5. Let cool off for 30 minutes, then keep in an air tight container.
