Chocolate crisps

My favorite chocolate from childhood is a German chocolate crossie. It is basically crunchy cornflakes and almonds coated in chocolate. To die for! Since I haven't lived in Germany in forever, I make them myself every year for Christmas, and ever since Arman tried them, he requests them as soon as December 1st rolls around. Make them, you won't regret it. They make the perfect gift that will satisfy everyone. 

 

 

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Hardning time: 1 hour

Makes 20 pieces: 

 

  • 175g good quality milk chocolate

  • 100 g good quality dark chocolate 

  • 1 Tbsp virgin coconut oil 

  • 1 Tbsp coconut sugar 

  • 2 cups cornflakes

  • 3/4 cups slivered almonds 

 

  1. Start by preparing a water bath to melt the chocolate. For this you heat water in a pot that can hold a glass bowl on top, but don't bring the water to boil. Take it off the heat, add the glass bowl on top, making sure no water can splash into the bowl. 

  2. Add the milk and dark chocolate, oil and sugar, and let it slowly melt. This may take a while, be patient. You don't want the chocolate to burn and break. 

  3. Once melted, add the cornflakes and almonds, and stir well. 

  4. Drop 1 Tbsp at a time on parchment paper, and let sit for 30 minutes until hardened. 

  5. Keep in an airtight container if you can resists eating them all at once :-)
