It's YouTube Friday, and last week you voted for this video over on Instagram stories. Then the power went out, we went into end-of-the-world-status here in the Bay Area, and the video never made it to you. It's here now and I hope it will help you to take some time to take care of yourself during your menstruation. I know that we often don't feel like we are allowed to take a break. If we don't burn our 500 calories working out, we might wake up fat the next day. If we don't push ourselves through the hundred burpees, we feel like failures. That is not at all the case! You are a cyclical being - literally! You have a cycle and the best thing you can do for it is honor it within yourself. If you feel like going for a marathon run the day you start your period then absolutely go for it! But if you feel exhausted, maybe have a few tension headaches, back pain or cramps, then why not be gentle with yourself? Just like there is night and day, black and white, awake and rest time, there is also a time to go hard when it comes to exercising and knowing when to pull back a little. Did you know, if you are more gentle with yourself during your period you can push yourself so much harder for the rest of the month? Isn't that incredible? Tune into yourself today and come flow with me on the mat to relax, ease pain and cramps, and give your body time to do its thing.
What you need today:
2 pillows, cushions, or a yoga bolster
2 yoga blocks or smaller pillows
a blanket or towel
Did you know that PMS isn't something that gets worse with age or really should be bad to begin with? Our hormones should interact beautifully throughout the month and we should just ease into our menstruation. This is often not the case because our body is so overwhelmed with a lot of hormones that can't be eliminated out of our body. Why? Because there is a toxic traffic jam in our liver. I hope you enjoyed today's video. If you did, please give it a thumbs up and let me know in the comments if there are any other videos you would like to see.
Have a great weekend!
